Making cannabis accessible and paving the way for legalization.

Around 2014 we developed a concept for a cannabis delivery app, codenamed Meadow. At the time, cannabis was not recreationally legal in California, but had a growing medical cannabis industry and was lacking any modern tech. We streamlined the process for buying cannabis as a patient and Meadow eventually became the first cannabis startup accepted into Y Combinator.

This in-person experience left a lot to be unknown to the end user. We believed at the end of the day a medical cannabis patient should be able to access cannabis, especially given some of these patients were did not have easy access to these dispensaries.

Meadow

The concept was simple — a modern and clear interface, beautiful fullscreen photography to know exactly what you're getting. The aesthetic should be really high end to build trust with the user. Giving information about the different properties of cannabis and educational information to help patients understand what type of flower they're purchasing.

New users might not understand the historical approach to weight when it comes to cannabis (1/8th, quarter ounce, half ounce) so to make that more obvious the quantity stepper was designed to clearly show the price and variation in amount in a sliding tappable row with an add to cart button that appears after the user selects their option.
